In 2006, they commissioned Nayan Kulkarni to install Nocturne, a huge artwork on the bridge. As the River Tyne’s Millennium Bridge, Tyne Bridge, High Level and Swing Bridges were already illuminated, it was decided that this artwork should light up the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge too.

After observing the water below the bridge, Kulkarni decided to use colour-changing lights on Nocturne. He said: "Like the slowly moving waters below the steelwork, I wanted to create a light work that would constantly change."

To light the bridge, Nocturne uses 36 banks of LED lights, which are set within the steel structure of the bridge itself. Kulkarni decided to use LED lights, as they are compact, long lasting and energy efficient. In fact, the LEDs that illuminate Nocturne use less energy in a year than the amount used by an average British family.

Shipping can be overnight, two day, or three day depending on how far it must travel. Depending on how much the box weighs, you will usually pay less than fifty dollars to ship a package in the continental United States….which is a lot less than you would pay an airline for extra baggage!

Check In & Check Out Times :

Please adhere to the times stated on your booking forms. These are stated for a reason and are part of the contract that you make with the owner when you agree to book their accommodation. Early check ins cause terrible problems for the cleaning staff, who work like Trojans in order to ensure your first impression is a great impression. Look at it this way… if it normally takes the cleaners 4-5 hours to clean the villa, and you arrive early, it is not going to make them clean any faster ! You will not be allowed entry to the villa until the job is complete, so if you do arrive early, take the opportunity to do a little shopping and stock up on those daily essentials.

Likewise, late check outs cause problems as this has a knock on effect throughout the day, as the cleaners struggle to make up the time caused by a late check out. Imagine you were the guests arriving on a day that the previous guests had checked out late. And imagine how annoyed you would be if the villa wasn’t ready, just because of someone else’s selfishness.

So the general rule of thumb, is to please check in and check out on time. Remember that if you overstay your welcome, as with hotels, you will be charged an additional fee.

Notices :

The villa owner and their management company will have gone to great lengths to ensure that the appropriate signage is displayed inside and outside the villa. Some people say that these signs are insulting to their intelligence, but the bottom line is that they are the law, and an owner can be fined if they are not displayed. Besides which, they are there for your health and safety, so take note of them and follow the instructions they give.

General Behaviour :

Always remember that you are staying in a privately owned home ~ not something owned by a faceless corporation. Villa owners spend thousands of dollars a year maintaining and upgrading their homes to ensure that you, as guests, get the best value for money vacation experience that you can.

Please don’t disrespect the owner’s property, and the trust they have placed in you by turning your accommodation into “dump” or a “party house”. Would you like your home and your possessions damaged ? Of course not ! So please don’t think that an owner will feel any differently.

Report any accidents immediately to the management company. Don’t try to hide the evidence in the hope that you will get away with it. Trust me… you wont ! Also bear in mind that if the manager is not given time to repair damage or replace damaged items, the next guests will have to suffer the consequences of your actions. Put yourself in their position, and do the right thing !

Pool Rules:

One of the greatest things about renting a private villa is the fact that get your own private swimming pool too. However, care must be take at all times in and around the pool, especially if you have children in your party.

The villa owner will give specific details of pool safety in their Welcome Folder, and you will also see signs at poolside, which are required by Florida State Law. Please read these carefully and follow them to the letter.

A legal requirement in a short term rental villa is the provision of a pool alert alarm which should be fitted to any internal door which leads out to the pool area. This alarm will sound whenever a door is opened, and is designed to alert parents to small children who may have entered the pool area unnoticed. It is an excellent safety feature. An override button on the alarm, which can be activated by adults will ensure that the siren does not become annoying.

Many guests however simply disarm this alarm, showing total disregard for the safety of their children. Not only is this stupid beyond belief, but also an arrestable offence in the State of Florida, with fines of $5,000.00 being levied against offenders.

Again, be smart, think health and safety, and do the right thing.

And that my friends is pretty much it ! Nothing too scary or overwhelming. Just simple common sense and courtesy. Follow these rules and you will not only enjoy a fantastic vacation, but you will always be welcomed back to the villa again, year after year after year.

There are weekly trips to a traditional Fijian village on the neighboring island of Qama, and if you possibly can then ask to go to the Fijian mass at the Catholic church on Taveuni. Take a picnic on honeymoon cove, and go to the waterfalls.

Matangi doesn’t take credit cards, but again you’ll only need to worry about your drinks bill because you’ll have paid the rest up front. In addition there seems to be no tipping, although you can make a contribution to the staff fund

Eurostar passengers are due for a service upgrade this November. That's when the famous English Channel Tunnel train starts moving at a faster clip. Introduction of the UK's first true high-speed line has been much anticipated. It promises a greener, more convenient travel experience... along with shorter trip times between Southeast England and Europe.

It has been over a dozen years since Eurostar initiated direct passenger rail linking London with Brussels and Paris. In that time, the train has become the preferred choice for crossing between Britain and the Continent -- more popular than either channel ferries or travel by air. Now, with new high-speed track between London and the coast cutting at least 20 minutes off travel times, the under-sea shuttle promises to be more popular than ever.

The skinny on the project is High Speed 1 (HS1), a 68-mi/109-km fast track formerly called the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. Over a decade in the making, the line will enable Eurostar to sustain speeds of up to 186-mph/300-km/h. In practical terms that means London to Paris Gare du Nord in two-and-a-quarter hours; Brussels and other points in even less. Also, for the first time, early morning trains will enable UK business travelers to reach Paris, Brussels or Lille in time to do a full day's work.

At the head of the line, Eurostar will trade its Waterloo terminus near London's South Bank for the brilliantly restored St. Pancras Station in King's Cross. St. Pancras, together with neighboring King's Cross and Euston Stations, will form a transport nexus befitting 21c London. Beginning in November, high-speed Eurostar trains will converge with six Underground (Tube) lines and trains from Edinburgh, Newcastle, Brighton and the east coast.

HS1 promises to be a boon for south-east suburban passengers looking to avoid the nasty slog into London.

The new station at Ebbsfleet, scheduled to open within days of November's HS1 kickoff, will incorporate a long-term car park and will be served by high-frequency shuttles to local railway stations and to the nearby Bluewater shopping centre. A second station at Stratford is due to come on line in time for the 2012 Olympics, while the existing station at Ashford will continue to serve international passengers.

High-speed service from London is not limited to Paris and Brussels. Depending upon one's departure point, a day in Calais -- with its bargain shopping and authentic bistros -- is an hour's journey or less. Minutes away are Lille -- a historic urbanity with a young and cosmopolitan flavor -- and Disneyland Resort Paris. Seasonal runs hit the Alpine slopes in winter and escape to sunny Provence in summer.

The Eurostar experience begins at the station. Long delays associated with air travel are replaced by fast, secure check-in procedures. Departure lounges offer a range of airport-style services and amenities. Once onboard, customized coaches cater to the separate needs of executive and pleasure travelers and all coaches benefit from spacious layouts and comfortable seating. Service levels range from economy-fare travel to a variety of first class options.

Speed, convenience and comfort are just part of the overall Eurostar experience. This is a small and intimate resort and the place to go if you want to be spoil. It is on a beautiful deserted beach.

It is the ideal place to finish off a honeymoon spent on safari, as it consists of only 6 luxurious bandas, so there can’t be more than twelve people in the resort.

Our banda was incredible, with a floor space of over 1400 square feet, with a bedroom, living room, full ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet, extra room with its own en-suite bathroom & a large furnished terrace with a view of the Indian ocean.

Facilities include: Safe deposit box, satellite TV and DVD player, private outdoor Jacuzzi, mini bar, air-conditioning, telephone and standing bar with tea/coffee making facilities I should add the fantastic views, and service you can only dream about. I believe there are around three times as many staff as there are guests, but they were completely unobtrusive, but extremely attentive.

Now The Palms is right next door to The Breezes which is a large international type hotel with the facilities to match. The great thing is you can use all of their facilities, things like diving, tennis, sailing, and I got the feeling that when the staff knew we were from the Palms we even got priority!!! The best thing of all, was that we could use their facilities, and use their hotel, they couldn’t use ours!!!

To be fair, you don’t get accommodation, or luxury like this cheaply. It is expensive, it is very private, and by the way the food is simply delicious.

Camping holidays are exploring times

You cannot let go of any summer until you have spent at least one weekend outside in the great outdoors. You will want to make sure that you take your time camping and learn how to really enjoy nature. You will find that lying beneath the states can help you to really relax. The best part of camping is that you won’t have people bothering you. You don’t have to worry about people calling you or come over unannounced. The summer and nature has a lot to offer a family.

There are campsites located everywhere and you can find one that is close to you that is affordable. You will find that practically every state has a park where you can go camping. You will find that they are very affordable and you will be able to share time with your family without having to give up a lot of money.

As for the campsites there are some of the best listed in this article. First, you may want to go to the A. B.C. or America’s Best Campground in Branson Missouri. You will find that this area happens to be the live entertainment capital of the world and will offer you tons of things to do and see. The campsite has electric, satellite, and phone hook ups. You will also be able to grill on a concrete patio. You will also find that pets are welcomed here. You just need to keep all animals on a leash and clean up after them. Also, you will find that there is air conditioning, and heart. It is a luxury place.

You may also want to think about going to Petit Jean State Park in Little Rock, Arkansas. It has tons of playgrounds, picnic areas, swimming areas, and hiking trails. You can also rent camping equipment. There are many trails that are famous along this area and you will be able to share some life time moments with your family.

If you are in the California area, you may want to go to Montana De Oro State Park or Angel Island State Park. There is plenty of things that you can do including hiking and swimming. There are many locations that you can hike in these areas, but you may find that there are no campfires allowed. You will be really learning how to become one with nature when you go to one of these campgrounds.

Finally, if you are in South Dakota you will find that Fort Welikit is one of the best sites that you can go camping. It has a lot of room to roam and lakes to explore, and very popular tourist attractions like Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, and Custer State Park. This is a great place to see history and enjoy activities like swimming and hiking.
