Getting help for a friend who struggles with fear and anxiety

Getting help for a friend who struggles with fear and anxiety can be tricky. He or she may be reluctant to get help or they may be scared. This is the time that your friend needs you the most. With this in mind, here are some suggestions on how a person can help his or her friend with their anxiety.

The first step a person should do is to convince their friend to get professional help. Explain to them that they must decide to get the help they need to overcome their anxiety. Nobody can do it for them. Explain to them that seeing a professional will really help them in the long run and that it is in their best interest to get this help.

Remind them that is hope and there are solutions to their anxiety problems if they seek treatment. There is nothing wrong in asking for help. Try to convince your friend that there are ways to manage your persistent anxieties and fears, however they must make the effort to learn these techniques.

When your friend is struggling, be there for him or her. Be supportive of your friend and try to help him out during his struggles. Dealing with fear and anxiety can be tough so give your friend a break when he struggles with his fears and anxieties.

One technique that you can use is to learn from your fearful and anxious situations. In every stressful situation that you experience, begin to learn what works and what you can do to improve. For instance, you have a lot of anxiety and you decide to take a stroll around your local park. The next time you feel anxious you can remind yourself that you got through it the last time by taking a short walk.

Taking advantage of the help that is available can go a long way in managing your fears and anxieties. When you are with your friend, you need to remind him or her of this fact.

How can i find time for myself during my busy day

Life is hectic. Face it. It seems like, if we’re not actively doing something, then we’re on our way to the next thing. There is laundry to do, dinner to prepare, work piling up on your desk and you’re already late for your son’s soccer practice. How in the world are you supposed to find time for yourself?

Yet at the same time you know that you will be a much better spouse, mother, friend and employee if your life is in balance and you take time to relax and rejuvenate.

Delegate

We are all limited to 24 hours in any given day. Since you can’t get extra time, you need to free up a few hours a day by delegating some of your tasks. Get the kids and your spouse to help out around the house, ask someone else to work out all the details for the church fundraiser this year, and delegate some of your simpler tasks at work to your assistant or if you own your own business, consider outsourcing.

Tackle One Thing At A Time

Multitasking is great, but sometimes you waste a lot of time trying to get 5 things done at the same time. Try focusing on one project at a time, putting your head down and getting it done before moving on to the next one. You’ll find yourself getting things done much faster without all the distractions multi-tasking can bring.

Schedule “Me” Time First

Make yourself a priority. There are always going to be at least 25 other things that you could be doing. Just ignore them for a moment and schedule time for yourself first. Get out your day planner and block out a few hours each week that are just for you. Unless there is a dire emergency, don’t reschedule.

Now that you have carved out some time for yourself, put it to good use. Take a hot bath, read a good book, or give yourself a facial. Relax before diving back into your hectic everyday life.

Power inside everyone

The most common mistake done when evaluating specific features of the person is associating strong will with a character from a movie that does impossible things, saves the world and creates an unforgettable impression on anyone watching him in action. The reality is a bit different and we realize that we are no supermen and will never become ones. Real humans usually act in accordance to their impulses and stimulus only then guided by our common sense. Our aim is not to win, to conquer or defeat. We prefer to hide behind the backs of others to avoid conflicts and get rid of unnecessary worries concerning responsibility. Someone will state that it is wonderful to live a life without worries devolving the burden upon someone else’s shoulders. But when consciousness wakes, the eternal struggle between what is right and what is easy, starts. Our life is always about “I have to” and “I want”.

Our minds are buried under the daily routine so deep that we don’t even realize what we live for. We rush to work and sit overnight with a research paper instead of getting some sleep. This is not because you want to but because you have to. Prior our life was a struggle between obligations and desires but now we don’t even observe its presence. We pushed down all our desires and are ruled by obligations that sometimes hurt you more than a knife in a stomach. On the panorama of such commonly accepted way of thinking those who have the courage to quit the much-hated job, change the life style or break the unions that are unworthy. These very people we call crazy are strong-willed persons that know the value of life. And we continue to blame them, being jealous deep inside. In every life there comes a moment when the change can break the usual lifestyle or plans that were set for the far future. This is unavoidable and we have to deal with it, otherwise there will be nothing good left of memory of you for your children. People admire those who have the nerve to resurrect a constant struggle between desire and obligation and follow the call of the heart never breathing a word about a loss they had. A strong-willed person never stops in front of the difficulty, never turns back facing hardships. Only those who have the courage and strong will to change their lives for better are worth admiration.

Why is it to admirable? A coin has two sides, as we know. On one side there is freedom, admiration, independence, satisfaction and other pleasant features that stand by strong-willed people. On the other side there are losses, rises and falls, hatred, tears and more tests you have to pass before you become successful. This is what brevity is all about. And more and more people will realize the value of choice and the life itself.

Soulcollage- give your life meaning

Imagine an inexpensive art activity that that steers you straight into the heart of your own truth. Imagine a practice that encourages wholeness of body, mind and spirit as it provides you with an opportunity for play and adventure. Imagine a personal growth tool that grounds you at the same time that it gives you wings to fly. Now… imagine accomplishing all of this with minimal materials (scissors, glue, mat board, magazine pictures) and in less than an hour!

This extraordinary tool for personal growth is SoulCollage®, a unique blend of spiritual practice and the fun of collage. Using intuition and imagination, you create a deck of collaged cards where each card reflects a different aspect of your unique self. The cards are then used to access your deep inner wisdom and to assist in answering the questions which arise from your life journey. And although SoulCollage® uses the traditional art form of collage, being an artist is not a prerequisite. The only requirement is a willingness to go within.

There are four suits in a SoulCollage® deck: The Committee (the inner voices in our minds), The Community (the family and friends who love and support us), The Companions (animal totems who lend us their energies for healing and growth), and The Council (archetypes who symbolize major life themes for us). Each card that one makes using the practice of SoulCollage® belongs to one of these suits.

The cards in your SoulCollage® deck name and honor all of your individual voices: the luminous and the clear, as well as the dark and the shadowy, because it is only in accepting every facet of ourselves that we can bring ourselves to wholeness.

The process of SoulCollage® has changed my life in many ways. I find that I am now more in touch with all of the voices inside of me, and that has afforded me a freedom that is most precious. Because I have given image and voice to the darker voices inside of me (the one who is angry, the one who feels like she isn’t enough, the one who is focused on overachieving, the one who criticizes everything I do,) I have been able to integrate them into my personality with more fluidity and acceptance.

This healthy assimilation means that I feel more whole and complete than ever before. And this wholeness has led to some remarkable changes in my inner and outer lives: I have been able to leave a job I had for ten years because I finally could see that it no longer served me, I am more confident in my ability to give myself what I need, I am more in touch with my dreams and can now see that I have what it takes to make them come true, and I have been able to deal with my recovery from a serious illness (breast cancer) in a profound way that has grounded me into my authentic self and given me wings to rise above my fears of another diagnosis.

You can make a SoulCollage® card intentionally, where you identify an inner voice, a Companion animal, or a member of your Community and then set about finding the images for that card, focusing only on the card at hand.

Usually, however, the cards are made intuitively. Sometimes you will make a SoulCollage® card and not know what it means. This is all a part of the process, and the best thing to do is trust the process.

After making a card, it is time to find out what it has to say to you. You can do this with the I am the one who… journaling exercise where you ask your card the following questions and then carefully recording the answers:

• Who are you?

• What do you have to give me?

• What do you want from me?

If you’re not comfortable with writing, this exercise can be done orally with a partner.

Here is an example of how the simple, fun act of making a collaged card like this can lead you deeper into your own inner wisdom. The very first SoulCollage® card I made had as its central image a little girl in a frilly white dress being dragged somewhere by an older woman in a dark drab dress. I was intrigued by this picture (from an advertisement) but I had no idea what it could mean. I trusted the process and cut out the image carefully, then laid it against several backgrounds until I found one that seemed to match its intensity: a close-up of an airplane near a suspension bridge. The crossed plains and wires of the bridge near the airplane spoke to me of crossroads and junctures, of confusion and chaos. Ahhh…. Its meaning was already starting to make sense in my mind.

Then I did the I am the one who… exercise out loud, with a partner. We both gazed reverently at the card I’d created. “Who are you?” my partner asked.

I used my imagination to enter the image and spoke my answers as if I were the little girl. I could have answered in the words of the older woman, but I trusted my intuition which told me it was the little girl who had something to say to me.

“I am the one who feels pulled in two directions,” I replied. My partner wrote down everything I said. “I am the one who is beautiful. I am the one who doesn’t like getting all dressed up.” I paused, waiting for the right words to come to me. I allowed several seconds between my answers. “I am the one who doesn’t want to go where this woman is taking me... I am the one who is turning away from where she is taking me because I don’t want to go.”

“What do you have to give me?” my partner prompted gently.

“What do you have to give me?” I asked the little girl on my card. I paused, waited, imagining what she would say to me in response to this question. “I give you _______”

“What do you want from me?” I heard my partner say next.

“What do you want from me?” I said to the image of the little girl, imagining her reply. “I want you to realize that you don’t have to go anywhere that you don’t want to go. I want you to stop for a minute and turn around and listen to other voices when they call you in other directions. I want you to see that the woman who is dragging me is not holding on all that tightly. I want you to realize that you have a choice.”

This exercise only took a few minutes, but when it was over, there were joyful tears of release and understanding in my eyes. For in making this card and then dialoging with it, I had given voice to the part of me who was longing to pull away from a job which had once served my needs but now was holding me back. I had been aware of that inner voice, but only vaguely.

The process of SoulCollage® had given me the tools I needed to name and honor that part of me, and in doing so I was able to make changes in my life that honored my authentic self and gave her room to grow. I was given roots with which to ground myself, and wings with which to let my spirit fly.

1)"Lust for Life", dirigida por Vicente Minnelli en 1952:

Connecting to the other side

I was sitting in my living room one day when a commercial came on for the Sci-Fi channel that said some guy was going to talk with the dead. This naturally grabbed my attention and the more I listened to how this person was going to connect with friends and loved ones who have crossed over a light switch flipped on for me. I had the “Ah-Ha” moment.

I immediately wondered how John Edward did what he did. I started watching every show there was to watch and became obsessed with trying to communicate to the other side. I just knew that it was something that I had to try and do. I watched every show over and over again to see how John received the information. I grabbed every book that I could to see how others used their abilities. Some I resonated with and some I did not. Then I went to the internet to talk with other Psychics about how they received their information. Most were helpful but there were some psychics who I felt were limiting themselves. They had told me not to worry about getting certain types of information. “Don’t worry about names” they said. But I knew that it was possible. John did it all the time. That became my mantra after a while. “Well John does it, why can’t I”?

After time and dedication and quitting my “real” job as a morning television host, I became a professional psychic medium. I have built up what I consider to be a successful practice doing readings, teaching classes and yes, doing Galleries. I also refer to them as “Psychic Tupperware Parties”. Much of what I do comes from watching John on Television and I hope that I will meet him one day to let him know how much he has changed my life.

The first hurdle that you will have to get over is the recognition and the openness to know that the information you receive could be coming from a higher source. Once you have acknowledged this inside of your self you have come eighty percent of the way. The rest is passion, desire and commitment. This is a field where you get out of it exactly what you put into it. Technically, the same is true of life itself. It’s like learning to sing or play soccer. How much effort and practice you put in is up to you. Do you want to sing at the Grand ‘Ol Opry or are you content with singing to your hearts content in the shower?

Many people do not want to work professionally such as I do or like John Edward. That’s okay…just because you get into this doesn’t mean that you are committed to doing readings and galleries. Some people just want to know that they are not going crazy. They want their lives to go a bit smoother by listening to that inner voice.

So what is your first step? Find out what your strength is. Do you have a very good imagination? Do you see things a little differently than other people? Do you always seem to get that gut feeling when something is not right? Break out in a sweat? What about when you come home, turn on the light and the light flickers?....sometimes it’s a sign….other times it just means that you have to go to Wal-Mart and get new bulb! My point is, don’t get too deep with this. It is very easy to go overboard and see too much into something and that can be just as clogging to the process as anything else.

So, back to your senses. Once you have figured out your strength, that is a good place to start. In future articles I will have some tips on how to find your strengths and enhance your psychic ability for whatever purpose you wish.
