Fathers day gift baskets

Father's Day is fast approaching. It will be here before you know it! Give your father, or other special man in your life, a truly unique and appreciated gift. This year, surprise the recipient with a gift basket designed especially for him.

Father's Day gift baskets come in all shapes and sizes and can be tailored to fit any budget. You have the option of purchasing them off the shelf or as a custom made gift. Whether Dad is a fishing nut, racecar fan or a lover of gourmet goodies, you can easily find a basket that he will enjoy. (And, not take up room in his sock drawer.)

If the special guy in your life is a movie buff, request a Father's Day gift basket created around this theme. Imagine his surprise when he receives a basket filled with a variety of treasures such as his favorite DVD (or movie rental gift card), gourmet popcorn, plenty of concession-stand type candy, movie trivia guide and a collectible movie tin.

If Dad is a "golf junkie", there are many Father's Day golf-related gift

baskets that will fit him to a t. or in this case, tee. Choose small themed items. maybe a book filled with great golf tips, a handy notepad or a perpetual calendar. Add to that, a bucket of chocolate golf balls, Dad's favorite nuts, snack mix and a golfer's coffee mug, filled with a variety of gourmet coffee singles.

Does your Dad claim to be the "master of the grill"? If so, BBQ-related, Father's Day gift baskets are an option worth your consideration. Start with a wicker tray-type basket filled with a variety of sauces and marinades. Add items such as a small chopping board, BBQ mitts and/or utensils, smoky cheeses, a themed cookbook and a gift card for Dad's favorite grocery store.

There really are Father's Day gift baskets appropriate for everyone on your list, regardless of their interests. This year, take the time to have your favorite gift basket vendor create a special basket that won't end up in the back of the closet, collecting dust!

Say yes to doing the dishes

There are many chores dreaded by most members of any household. In fact, probably every household chore is held in dread by someone in every family. It does seem, however, that some chores, for whatever reason, always rank near the bottom of the preference list. These highly dreaded chores are the ones that people will do almost anything to trade with someone else or get out of all together. Silly deals are made so that one person will clean another's room for a month in order to get out of cleaning the toilet one time. For some reason, doing the dishes seems to be one of the things most families hate to do.

Perhaps people hate doing dishes because it comes at the end of a relaxing meal or a stressful day, or maybe people would rather choose another chore because of the way dishes make your hands shrivel like dried fruits. In any case, I have never quite understood why people dispise doing dishes so much.

If you think about it, doing dishes is much easier than many other household chores. It is not nearly as hard as pushing a vacuum or scrubbing a toilet and it requires absolutely none of the mental focus that dusting around tiny, breakable figurines takes. So why not choose doing the dishes and let your other family members fight over the really hard chores?

Doing dishes is also a great way to relax and unwind after a hard day. Put on some good jazz music, light a few candles and enjoy the peace and quiet of doing the dishes in a space all to yourself. Take time to think back on the events of the day and reflect upon areas that your life that are going well.

Especially if you are married, offering to do the dishes after dinner can be a great way to spend a little time with your spouse and connect after a busy day that took you in separate directions. Take that time away from the kids each day and be intentional with asking questions and caring about the details of each other's lives that can so easily be left unshared. You'll be amazed at what doing dishes will add to your marriage if you make it a special time each day.

So the next time your family gets into a debate about what chores each person will do, surprise everyone by volunteering to do the dishes. They will be glad you did and you will too when you discover how easy and relaxing time spent doing dishes really is.

Kids need to play outside how do you do that safely

If you are a baby boomer then you‘ll remember the good old days when you played outside all day and complained vehemently when you were told to go inside for the night.

If you take a look outside these days the streets are fairly empty with few people even walking on the sidewalk or playing in the grass. We’ve become somewhat paranoid and the game has changed.

It seems like the children have lost their freedom to play safely outside by themselves and with their friends. Instead we now have very controlled environments of driving your child to a friend’s house or taking them to various extra curricular activities. While this is still valid I find it a shame that we are victims of fear in this society. We also have more children becoming couch potatoes watching TV or playing video games. You’ve probably noticed obesity on the rise in America and this is true for our children as well.

But we can have some of the good old days back and here are some things you can do to make it safer to let your kids play outside;

1)If several kids on your street that play together, you can get together as adults and assign on a rotating basis who will keep an eye on all the kids while the others are getting important things done. But do this job with great care. You have precious little future adults that still look to you for safety.

2)Better still, play games with them. Someone who is looking to annoy, tease or do harm, is less likely to do so if active adults are on the scene.

3)Prepare for possible emergency. A family plan firmly in place and understood by all and *drilled*, may be more successful then not having a plan at all. An example of something you can do, is hang a whistle on a string. Every time the kids go out they put the whistle around their necks. They are taught that they blow the whistle hard in an emergency situation only! Tell them the cry wolf story and let them know what the consequences are for blowing the whistle in a non emergency situation. Can you imagine if all parents in your area are grooved in on this and you hear a whistle go off, you may have half a dozen people or more flying out the door instantly to investigate.

4)Last year on the Oprah Winfrey show there was a family that had an emergency plan in place that was quite ingenious. In a prior family meeting they developed a code and I believe it was a number code, but any simple code would suffice. They were told never ever reveal the code to anyone for any reason. It paid off because a man approached their younger daughter and told her, that her parents wanted him to bring her home. She asked him for the code. He could not produce one and instantly she ran and averted a potential disaster. On the show, Oprah tried to get the girl to reveal the code but the little girl remained true and would not reveal it. She was highly praised by Oprah and I thought this was a fantastic plan the parents had come up with. It worked for them and could possibly work for you.

5)Adults are obviously much stronger than children but that doesn’t mean that a child cannot hurt an adult. Karate or Tae Kwan Do classes can be of benefit to boys and girls. It can not only build character and strength, but it can also teach them how to get out of certain grips and holds and where to hit in an emergency situation. It may be enough to get away. Also, it’s a great way to keep them fit and healthy.

6)I think that the best thing you can do is teach your child to be aware. If children learn early on basic safety precautions, it becomes a life long habit. Do you remember as a kid walking down the street, staring at the sidewalk as you were walking? Teach your children not to do that. Have them scan ahead and all around. This will do two things; a) they can spot potential trouble ahead of time and b) it gets you out of your head and seeing the world around you. This is good for you to do as well.

Kids need to play and be social and it’s ok to get dirty sometimes. I see it all the time with my grandchildren that they are the most happy and energetic when they are outside. They actually fight less and work more as a team with each other and their friends when they can safely play outside. Make yourself and your children more aware and for peat sake, have some fun!

What will you gift your father on father s day

:
It becomes impossible to choose the perfect gift for the person you love most that is your father. Any father will be happy with even the smallest gift you give because it is their simplicity and love that makes them behave this way. But you can really give him a nice gift on the occasion of father’s day that he can enjoy by simply digging a little into a combination of interest, history, your relationship and his basic needs.

You can make your father’s day memorable with a gift that he will treasure for lifetime and what more could be better than a father’s day gift basket? You can buy a gift basket or make one of your own keeping in mind his interests and likings. You can buy a basket easily available in the crafts store and then fill it with the gifts and decorate it with fillers so that when your father receives it, he gets immense pleasure.

Now, analyze what your father likes to do in spare time for example if he is a book lover you can give him books based upon various topics like fiction and non fiction. If he has an interest in nature, traveling, computers, science or literature you can include books based on the related topics. IF he is a music lover you can choose from a wide variety of music CD’s ranging from pop, jazz, classical, movie songs or you can even go for CD’s that release stress or meditation. For movie lovers, you can collect a set of DVD’s or video CD’s of his favorite movies.

If your father is a gadget lover you can gift him with latest gadgets such as mobile phones, ipods, electronic diary, calling cards, mobile phone covers etc. If your father is still working, you can either gift him an official leather bag or a designer pen. Some general gift items that you can include are photo frames, chocolates, dry fruits or a health guide if he is a sports lover. For fathers who are fashion conscious you can gift him an official neck tie or accessories such as watches, tie pins, sunglasses, wallet but always remember to present something that is more practical and he needs to make his life more pleasurable.

Green light for environmental stewardship

Nature is our biggest asset and a gift of God to us. But unfortunately we are slowly losing it due to our ignorance. We do not give much thought when we through litter pollute our air or make too much noise. All these and other factors are the main reasons which are damaging the nature. And the sad part is that none of us is taking responsibility of this act. There are only a few organizations who are working towards preserving the nature. Most of the organizations that are working towards preserving the nature are doing so privately. But there are few like Natural England who is backed up by Government as well. This shows that the organization is really committed towards achieving its goals.

Environmentalists are becoming more and more concerned about the decrease in the greenery around the world. We all know that we need greenery as much as we need water. Recently, governments from around the world have also started taking steps to protect the environment. The England Government recently announced Environmental Stewardship scheme. The scheme has been accepting applications from 1 January 2007.

This scheme is open to every farmer and land manager. Almost 3.5 millions have been brought in by 25,000 Entry Level Stewards (ELS) under environment management. There is also another targeted scheme under the name of Higher Level Scheme (HLS). This scheme only supports the highest quality applicants. Recent years have seen Natural England accept almost 1,000 HLS which covers 65,000 hectares. All ELS and HLS applications need to be approved from the new Rural Development Programme.

Natural England is actually an organization that works for conservation of people, natural beauty, wildlife and biodiversity. The organization is working towards managing the nature in such a way that it is preserved for our present as well as future generations. Natural England has divided its goals into four strategies, these are stated as below:

Conserve and enhance the natural environment of England

Make the natural environment such that people enjoy it more.

Manage and use the natural environment.

Make such decisions that they secure the future of the natural environment.

Environmental organization plans and manages its practices in such a way that they will benefit the natural wildlife. Due to all the contributions Natural England have made to the conservation of nature it is now considered as the statutory adviser of the Government. It responsibilities include natural parks, Heritage Coasts and Areas of Natural Beauty. Natural England is not only responsible for conserving the landscapes and wildlife but also the marine and coastal life. It is running many natural programs that focus on different parts of nature.

It is up to us as well to ensure that these and other such organizations keep working. We can also contribute towards their cause by helping them. You do not need to do much even planting a small tree is more then enough. It is also our moral duty to ensure that our future generations are able to enjoy the nature as we are able to do today.
